Digs4D GS
Background
Digs4DOGS was set up by myself, Dawn Bell, a dog loving person who struggled to find the right environment for our own active, energetic Labrador Freddy to stay when we go on holiday. I have been fortunate to rely on friends and family to look after Freddy in a family home and know that he will be well cared for and loved during our time away. This was a hugely important thing for us as not all dog kennels are necessarily the right environment for him, and as dog lovers, needed the assurance that he was going to be fussed and loved like he does at home. Afterall, the dog is part of the family and deserves a nice holiday too when we are away.
Not everyone is fortunate enough to have family/friends close by to help them out with their dogs, so we decided to open up our home to other dogs who would benefit from staying within a family home. Digs4DOGS was created.
Happy dogs mean happy owners.
Freddy our labrador
Dudley (charity dog)
Rupert, Bobby & Billy (3 original dogs)
Dogs have been a big part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up with mainly terriers, having a Collie Cross, a Giant Schnauzer and a terrier in our own family and currently having 2 resident dogs - Billy the Whippet (16) and a 4 year old Labrador called Freddy.
Our house has been open to all sorts of breeds of dogs over the years having looked after friends' dogs and having volunteered full time as a puppy parent for a charity who specialise in wheelchair assistance dogs. Learning how to train the puppies, how to handle them and how they can adapt in situations.
I have completed and passed an online "Competency Course for Home Boarders" and a "Dog First Aid" course. I continually research information about breeds of dogs I am unsure of to keep me up to date with knowledge about them. and I also join online webinars regarding anything doggie that I feel will help my knowledge and understanding of dogs.
