We understand only too well that your dog is part of the family, and it is our priority to make you feel comfortable and happy with the care we provide them.
To make sure all your questions are answered, see the FAQs below.
What will my dog need to bring to board in your house?
To make your dog feel at home within our house, he/she will bring their own bed/blanket they normally sleep on, their own food & bowl and any favourite toy or snuggly thing they have that may settle them down. If they are used to sleeping in a crate, you will need to provide that too, although I do have two small crates of my own that can be used.
Will my dog be sharing sleeping arrangements and walks with other dogs during their stay?
Yes, ideally your dog will share the same area for sleeping as our resident dogs or other visiting dogs. However, your dog can be separated, if necessary, into an alternative room if that is better for them. This can be discussed at the "meet & greet". Your dog will also be walked alongside other dogs where possible. Permission to do this will be needed off the owner priory to boarding.
How many walks a day will my dog have, and will they be off lead walks?
Your dog will have at least 2 walks a day of a minimum of 30 minutes each time, or as appropriate for the age and breed of dog. Off lead walks will be given provided your dog responds to good recall. Your dog walking requirements will be discussed and agreed at the time of the "meet & greet". In the event of a dog walk not being able to take place (ie extreme hot weather) other mental stimulation will be provided to keep your dog active. Your dog will have access to the garden throughout the day.
Will my dog need to be assessed before he/she can board?
Your dog will need to attend a "meet & greet" with myself and resident dogs before he/she can stay. This is a legal requirement from the council and under my licence terms. I cannot accept a booking until this has taken place. The "meet & greet" gives me opportunity to meet your dog, let him/her meet our own resident dogs, see how they react within our home and discuss your dog's individual needs and whether we can provide for this. A walk will also be included to see how your dog is on a lead and off lead with recall. An overnight stay may also be considered to assess suitability. Only after this process will I confirm if a booking for boarding can take place. Younger or anxious dogs may require further visits prior to their stay to ensure that they are happy and settled with us. Each dog will be individually assessed to their needs and what is best for them. Only after the process above has been done, can we then verify if your dog is suitable for home barding with us. All documents (booking form & T'C's) will then be provided for completion before the first stay.
Not all dogs are suitable for home boarding within our family, so please do not be offended if we decide to decline a booking.
Will I be able to check on my dog while I am away?
Regular photos/videos of your dog will be sent via whatsapp for owners that want peace of mind along with an update on their stay.
Regular updates will also be made on my facebook page Digs4DOGS where I have permission to upload photos of your dogs.
